Mr. McCambridge

Measuring & Estimating

We have been researching the topic of the Vikings. Inspired by Thor's Hammer the children created their own clay artwork.

Young Enterprise - Our City

We have really enjoyed the Young Enterprise project 'Our City.' This programme examines the features that make up any city. The children are introduced to the idea that cities are made up of different areas or zones in which activities are vital for city life occur. Children are also introduced to the steps needed in setting up their own business. At the very end of the programme the children worked in groups to create their own themed restaurant. We then used Adobe Express to create restaurant logos and menus.

The children were given the challenge of designing and creating a boat using tin foil. We then tested the boats to see which design held the greatest amount of coins.

THE VIKINGS ARE COMING!

We have been researching Viking Warriors and making helmets, shields and spears.

James and the Giant Peach

Using Adobe Express and AI, we created our own book covers for our class novel, James and the Giant Peach.

Viking Longships

Pancake Tuesday

Pancakes! We followed a pancake batter recipe, measuring out the ingredients and mixing together. Mr McCambridge then cooked them and we got to eat them all. laugh

World Book Day

Just popped up to say HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

The children have loved using Adobe Express this term and are now experts!

Today, they used their skills to create Christmas cards for friends and family.

Happy Hallowe'en

Minecraft Education

Today during our iPad time, we explored Minecraft Education. It was great to see new Inside Out PDMU lessons and Space Adventures. The children also practiced building their spellings using the creative mode. We really had to think hard and problem-solve when we were building some letters. The children worked together and taught Mr McCambridge how to fly add blocks in Minecraft. laugh

Today we explored how we are all unique. We imagined ourselves as superheroes, highlighting things that we are super at and things we would like get even better at this year in school.

Autumn Poetry

We have written Autumn Sense Poems. While we were on our 'Daily Mile', we discussed all the changes that happen during the season of Autumn linking them to our senses. When we returned to class, as a group we wrote all our ideas down and then used our favourite ideas to create our poems. On the chrome books we used Just2Easy to type up our poems.

Autumn Block Prints

Our finished prints! We used coloured tissue paper and painted backgrounds in some of our prints. Our next step is to create a frame for our artworks.

Autumn trees block prints

Taking our inspiration from the artist Gail Kelly, we created our own 'Autumn Tree' block prints.

"Block Printing" is a method used to print text, images or patterns on textiles and paper.

The children have created their own imaginative art works using this method.

Kente Patterns: Black History Month

As part of Black History Month, we created our own 'Kente Cloth Patterns' using Adobe Express.

Kente Cloth is the traditional art from Ghana. One fact is that kente means the pattern of colors.

The children used a variety of 2d shapes to create their fantastic patterns.

Chrome books

The children have loved using the chrome books during our ICT lessons. We were creating an artwork using a repeated pattern.

We have been loving our basketball sessions with coach Jim. Today, we were learning how to perform a jump shot.

Fantastic Mr Fox

Our class novel is 'Fantastic Mr Fox' by Roald Dahl. We created our own posters for the novel using Adobe Express.
