Welcome

On behalf of all the children, staff and Governors, I would like to warmly welcome you to the St. Colman’s Primary School website.

As a Catholic school, we place a huge importance on developing the unique potential of each child. We teach children the importance of tolerance and fairness, care, friendship and mutual respect. We all take great pride in everything that we achieve.

The school was established nearly fifty years ago and has earned a reputation for providing an excellent and rounded education for children in the Derriaghy Parish and indeed from further afield.

We are a school that likes to celebrate success at every level. The life of the school is driven by effort, enthusiasm and a desire to achieve. We promote learning that is active, creative and encourages children to embrace challenge and celebrate success. Our curriculum is purposefully broad and children have opportunities to participate in a wide range of cross-curricular activities as well as in music, technology, performance and sport.

An essential ingredient that promotes the school’s ethos is teamwork. We view education as a joint venture, involving everyone – children, parents, staff, Governors, our clergy and the wider community. Through these partnerships we aim to provide the best possible educational experience for each child and their family.

As a Staff and Board of Governors we want every child in our care to enjoy their time in St. Colman’s Primary School, making friends and memories that last a lifetime.

We hope you enjoy browsing this website. You will learn a little about us and our day to day life.

No website can adequately convey the ethos and energy of a primary school so should you wish to visit our school, you are very welcome to make an appointment to call in and see for yourself the work that we do.
