Literacy: Seamus Heaney

Primary 7 enjoyed a lovely outdoor learning experience, blackberry picking. The children explored nature first-hand, carefully gathering ripe, juicy berries while noticing the different textures, colours, and smells around them.

This activity forms part of our preparation for writing sensory poems inspired by Seamus Heaney’s famous poem, Blackberry-Picking. By engaging their senses outdoors, the children will bring rich vocabulary, vivid imagery, and personal experience into their creative writing.

Seamus Heaney HomePlace Bellaghy

Primary 7 had a brilliant day out at the Seamus Heaney HomePlace in Bellaghy. They learnt about his life and writing through a range of hands-on activities. They had great fun writing poems with fresh blackberry ink, exploring the exhibition, trying on costumes, and topping it all off with some delicious scones served with homemade blackberry jam. 😍😍

Disco Circuits in PE

During PE, we turned up the music and high-energy vibes for our Disco Circuit Training, where we danced, moved through different fitness stations, and worked hard to improve our strength and stamina.

Halloween Fun: Dress up and Maths Hunt

What a brilliant day in Primary 7! The children enjoyed a well-earned afternoon of fun – dressing up, taking part in a maths treasure hunt around the school, singing karaoke, and playing football (complete with a Shrek, a dinosaur, and plenty of boys with moustaches).
It was a lovely way to finish off such a busy term.
