SOCCER SEASON 2009/10

There has been a huge turn out each Wednesday afternoon for Soccer training. So much so, that training has had to be alternated between Primary 4 & 5 and Primary 6 & 7!

Both the Primary 6 & 7 soccer teams were unfortunate to be knocked out of their respective Lisburn Schools' Cup competitions after fine performances in the First Round.

GLENMORE TOURNAMENT 2010

Congratulations to the Primary 6 5-a-side team who finished 4th in the Glenmore Tournament.

Congratulations to the P6 5-a-side soccer team who won the Glenmore Tournament in March 2009

After losing matches to Ballymacash and St. Joseph's the boys pulled together in a great show of team spirit and commitment to defeat Old Warren, Harmony Hill and Tonagh to qualify for the Final.

Facing Tonagh (again) in the Final, the team started strongly with captain Kieran Foster scoring with a rocket into the top corner. Tonagh equalised just before half time and with both sides tiring the second half saw no more scores.

In the resulting penalty shoot out, St. Colman's keeper Joel Webb proved the decisive factor with 2 fine saves meaning that St. Colman's were the winners by 2 goals to 1.

The St. Colman's team of Mark O'Hanlon, Paul O'Hanlon, Kieran Foster, Conor Hall, Conor Boyle, Andrew McDowell & Joel Webb deserved their success for a hard fought and determined display. This is only the second time that St. Colman's have won this annual Tournament. Let's hope that it isn't another 7 years before the shield is won again!!!
