Wednesday 15 February 2012
Primary 6 teachers and children have been using photostory as part of our ongoing Studio On project. Find out more about our special day on Wednesday the 15th of February.
What our Children have been working on
As a practice in the process of using Photo Story 3 we downloaded cartoon characters and added text and special effects onto individual photos and tried to sequence them into a story format. When the children were confident in the use of Photo story 3 and editing their work eg placing photos in sequence, adding titles, voice overs and music I then set the following task as part of our project on Belfast.
Choose a building, sculpture or aspect of Belfast city which impresses you and which you believe is worth celebrating. Take or download photographs of your feature and present it in Photo story 3 format. Research your building /sculpture and present the information to the rest of your class.
We then completed a planning sheet in which the children downloaded their photographs and for each slide wrote down the title, text or dialogue which they wished to use. Then they also selected music to accompany some of their slides.
The children worked on this over a number of weeks. Each week we added a new aspect of our Photo story and edited our work until it was complete.
Their final presentations were all different depending on the building/sculpture chosen. Many went and visited their buildings and took their own photographs and some downloaded their images from the internet. Some added music provided on the site, others downloaded and others played their own music. As a result all children in the class completed an individual project and each was quite different from the others. They thoroughly enjoyed the project and using Photo Story 3 and were highly motivated during the task. They worked very hard and the end result was good quality work of a high standard.
Well done everybody, MrsMcGrath (Primary 6)
