Interview with Mr McAllister

Monday 5 December 2011

This week we interviewed Mr McAllister and found out some very interesting things like that he wanted to be an actor .... and we also gave us some great ideas about how we could do our bit to help protect the planet.

1. Whats your favourite colour?

Purple.

2. Did you always want to be a caretaker?

No-I wanted to be an actor or a draftsman
We binged it and found out it is someone who draws up plans for houses - editor

3. You must get very tired as a caretaker,do you ever regret your job?

No I don't. Every day is different.

4. Do you have to travel far to get to work?

No I only live 5 miles away from school.

5. What kind of car do you drive?

A Toyota Avensis Estate.

Mr McAllister's car looks like this one.
6. What do you enjoy most about your job?

Working in an environment with children.

7. Did you go on any holidays last Summer?

No. Last year 2 of my daughters got married.(Claire & Nuala) Congratulations!

8. Who is your favourite singer?

Neil Diamond.
We had to look him up too! A lot of parents like him and we found this picture. We even discovered that he has a new album out on the 6th of December - that could make a good Christmas pressie for someone.

9. What is your favourite electrical item?

A power-drill.

10. Have you ever met any one famous?

Yes I met Stuart Granger (Bing it!) in Marbella.

We did but even Mr Kernan had never heard of him but we found a pic.

Stewart Granger was an actor

11. How many years have you worked in our school?
Eleven great years.

12. How many bottles and plastic containers do you think are thrown out in school each week?

Around 600. Mr O'Neill and I have a lot of rubbish to collect each day and week.

We think you and Michael (Mr O'Neill) do a great job and we would like to help you reduce this if we can.

13. Can you think of any ways we could save on the use of plastic bottles?

Ideally the children would put bottles in their lunch boxes and bring home to your own house and children could reuse or recycle them.

We think that is a good idea.

14. At the moment we only have one bin in our classes. Are there any bins we could use just for paper?

Yes there are. We have bins that we used for recycling when we were in our old school. I would be happy to help you with your recycling efforts and I would like to see the paper then delivered to plant.
We should all try to recycle paper!

15. Do you think there are ways we could also save energy in the school?

Yes especially with computers. Teachers and children often leave them on when they are not using them - particularly in the ICT suite. The projector could be turned off at the end of the day aswell.

Save Energy

Thank you for your time Mr McAllister. You have given us some great ideas and things that all the children in the school could do to help save energy and to reduce reuse and recycle throughout the school. We would like to incorporate these in a Go Green week as part of our Planet Preotection Programme.
