Friday Note e-mailed 2U

As of the end of December 83 parents (with q total of 101 children) have signed up making a saving of 4040 Friday notes a year already.
This should also save over
1450 litres of water
19 kWh of power
6.6 kg of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e).
Read the bottom of the page to see how we worked out the Maths.
At the Christmas bazaar the wwwdots signed up 27 parents (33 children). Thank you to all the parents and to Andrew, Emer, Caoimhe and John who worked at the stall. It is the first time children in our school have ever had their own stall. Since then a lot more parents have joined.

Parents who joined up raised £1 for the Parent's Association and were entered into a free draw for 5 cinema tickets (2 adults and 3 children) for the Lisburn Omniplex. The draw was won by the Robinson family.

Thanks to Arc Lighting for sponsoring this initiative and for helping us to Protect our Planet.

The Maths
On average, each tonne of paper saves:
18 trees
67,500 litres of water
9,500 kWh of power
3,300 kg of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e)
'PaperCutz 4 Planet Ark' Campaign
So how many pages in a tonne?
Given...1 A4 page of 80gsm (gsm: Grams per Square Metre)
1m2 = 16 x A4 sheets; So... 1 A4 sheets = 80g/16 = 5grams
1 tonne = 1,000,000grams hence... 1 tonne = 1,000,000/5 A4 sheets = 200,000 A4 sheets)
Number of Friday Notes...
On average we have 40 Friday notes so each child who does not receive one potentially saves 40 pages. Once we reach 50 children that is 2000 pages - 1% of a tonne.
