ICT

Our excellent facilities

We are very proud of our ICT facilities in St Colman's. We have computers in each classroom aswell as a customised ICT Suite containing 25 computers. Each class is timetabled and can use the suite throughout each week. In addition we have interactive whiteboards in three of our classrooms aswell as one in our ICT suite and, of course, the children love watching films in our mini cinema.

The very latest technology is on the way..

Next year EVERY classroom will have it's own interactive whiteboard. Not only that but St Colman's Primary School will have be the very first Primary School in Ireland to have the new Active 500 Whiteboard. These widescreen boards will have the very latest hardware and software.

The very latest technology

Teachers received training on the use of the Boards during staff training days in early November and they are all very excited. These are multisensory boards and you can have up to 4 children at once using the board at the same time. Not only that but you can use a pen or your fingers to work the Boards.

Staff trying the new boards

Miss McAreavey enjoyed using the new boards and she was very enthusaiastic during our staff training.

Great News - St Colman's is chosen!

Our school is chosen to participate in the Studio On Creative Learning Schools Programme

Our school has been selected as one of only a handful of schools to collaborate with the prestigious Studio On Creative Learning Centre. As a result our Primary 6 and 7 children are involved in exciting ICT projects. These projects are coming to fruition in November and we look forward to showing you examples of what our very talented children can do.

ICT Accreditation

For the past number of years our school has participated in the ICT Accreditation scheme for our Primary 7 children. Last year we were one of the few schools who opted to allow Primary 4 children to participate in the scheme. We were hughly successful and our children were highly commended. We hope to continue our repeat our success again this year.

In addition every class will complete elements of the accreditation scheme and they will receive a certificate at the end of the academic year outlining the tasks that they have completed and the skills that they have learned.
